The happiest guy here is obviously Nick Paul. He gets moved from Ottawa and their cheapskate owner to TB where the goal every year is to do everything you can to win a Cup. In other words, Paul is going to a professionally run team that has the highest ambitions.

Friggin’ Seattle fire sale continues. Tanking with no subtleties at all. They will have way more draft picks than legitimate NHL calibre roster players now. Ron Francis, what are you doing?

If I'm Dubas, I'm calling Montreal and trying to trade for Carey Price. Offer them a pile of draft picks and prospects. Toronto can keep him on IR, and come playoff time add a 10 million player ala Kucherov. If Toronto wins, I'd bet the farm Price retires. If Toronto loses, Price likely also retires , cause if he can't win with that team, he never will, and his psyche likely can't handle that. Now if Toronto and / or Montreal wants this to be a hockey trade beyond this year then Nylander, McDermott and Campbell gets it done moneywise. Doesn't he have a full no movement clause? He probably says no to any move. He hasn't played since July 2021 and probably wouldn't be ready after about 10 months of no action. Sure he does, but he also only has 1 or 2 average seasons left in him. If a legit contender was dangled in front of him, I think he’d accept the move. His depression is directly linked to knowing he is never winning a Cup with Montreal.

Arizona’s strategy of taking on unsigned fourth year college guys that won’t sign with their teams continues, oh with a bit of taking on some contract dump too. Leave space for Weber’s deal lol.

For sure, Franko, that is the reality for Sens fans. My question would be who precisely is taking Paul's place among the unproven kids and AHL lifers in Belleville? Lucchini? Wasn't he with Habs last season? Is he not 27-28 years old? Sokolov is playing well and is certainly a nice prospect. But is he the kind of three-zone, energy guy that Paul is? He seems like a boom or bust type projecting to the NHL. Jarventie is another case, and I will admit that I really wanted the Habs to draft him (he went far earlier than most projections for the second round where Montreal ultimately got Tuch and Mysak. I think Jarventie is really talented winger, but he not the type of player that Paul is and in reality Jarventie is probably either going to integrate into Ottawa's top six within two years or likely wash out altogether because he is not a bottom six type player. I know I’m old when my first thought was “hang on, we DID draft Jarventie, and I’m pretty darn sure I seen him play”. Then on looking into it, Martti played like 20 years ago for Montreal, and you are referring to his son.

Minnesota State!!! Well that seals it, you can’t get more legit than that. I bet this guy was top 10 in Timmins rankings.

Maybe something big happens soon, but it sure seems surprising how inactive the playoff teams from the Metro division have been. Likewise, considering the Kings and the Oilers are sitting in playoff spots right now, they oddly do not seem to be getting creative about how to get better.

I just realized it had been a while since he'd played, so realized it must be a different guy. So many NHLers now are the kids of the players I grew up watching... The Tkachuks and Manson are the first to mind.

And Roby (the Sens’ prospect) has a younger brother, Emil, who is a good prospect for the 2023 draft class. Yup, the guys we watched at one point have kids playing or being drafted. How did that happen lol?

Ken Holland is running the Oilers & you are expecting creativity. I thought he should have been in on Fleury before the season started. He should have been in on this deal. I baffled trying to understand why he continues to waste the prime years of his superstars by continuing to rely on 2nd & 3rd rate netminders.

Rugged physical non-rentals like Middleton and Lauzon sure went for a fraction of the cost of Giordano.

That Beaulieu trade that is conditional:
2022 7th round pick (PIT) [Conditional]* *Conditions: Winnipeg receives the 2022 7th round pick if the Penguins win 3 playoff series and Beaulieu plays in at least 50% of the games.
So basically Winnipeg gave him away for free. Boy has his stock dropped.

No official confirmation, but it sounds like it will be either a second or third rounder. So that is better than I was expecting and probably attributable to the fact that Kulak's play has improved over the last month.

The second has to be in 2023 as their 2022 is tied up as a conditional option. I guess they had to take some contract back. The Swede is a bit of a depth tweener with the Oil right now. He is a RFA after, but the key to the deal would be a second pick.
